When the struggle is reading...

For some high school students, just the mention of reading their English text can trigger stress. This can make reading as much of a struggle for parents and teachers as it is for students.

Book Dives remove the friction of reading English texts - for students, parents and teachers...

Why Book Dives work

Book Dives work on the age-old adage that 'everyone loves a good story'. And for high school students who struggle to read, we know this to be especially true.

The Book Dive breakthrough

In late 2021, in the thick of lockdown, we discovered Book Dives were easing even the toughest high school reading strugglers into...

...wait for it...

Reading and enjoying their English texts.

And as if that wasn't enough, we then watched on with parents and teachers as students willingly immersed themselves in the story of their English texts.

But there's more.

We then found students starting to demonstrate a genuine understanding of the text.

And not just early on in the book either. We actually found students were remaining fully engaged for the length of the text.

This for a book that was almost certain to have remained on the shelf otherwise...

Request a Book Dive

Don't see your English text on the Book Dive List?

You can request a Book Dive at any time without hesitation.

We'll quickly let you know, based on current demand, when or if your book is likely to be 'Book Dived'. In some cases we can have sessions ready for students to 'Book Dive' within days depending on current demand.

I’m really enjoying Station Eleven. At the start it was okay, but now that everything is interconnecting it has gotten very interesting.

Your Book Dives are great, the resources and your annotations in the novel will be very handy later on!

Thanks Amanda for the Ransom Book Dive. Reading it with you really helped me to understand what was happening in the plot. I didn't think I'd like the book but I ended up really enjoying it!

Emily got so much out of your The Dressmaker and Nine Days Book Dive series this summer!

I wasn't sure how I was going to help her get through these thick novels. Thanks for this great program!

Sometimes reading feels like I have to get a tooth pulled out, but it's become something that I don't just push away now, I enjoy it. Thanks for helping me to enjoy reading more.

Amanda has opened my mind to reading, it's not a bad thing anymore. It's something I can do now in my own time, not just because I have to.
